Improving Karachi law, order: Firdous urges all stakeholders to play role

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Tuesday urged all stakeholders and political parties to play their due role for improving law and order situation in Karachi. Talking to media outside the parliament she said, "Its is the responsibility of the opposition, political parties, all stakeholders and government to work for restoration of peace in the city as Karachi belongs to all."
She said Ramazan teaches peace, harmony and brotherhood and elements involved in the killing of innocent people have no religion. About the 48 hours warning given by MQM Chief Altaf Hussain, she said the government is taking all possible steps to improve law and order situation in Karachi. The Minister said on the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari a committee has been constituted to consult all stakeholders for restoration of peace.
Referring to Quetta she said a committee constituted by the Prime Minister has started work to restore pace in the Quetta. Firdous said that country's enemies are involved in the killing and disturbing law and order situation in Quetta. To a question she said the elements who wanted to do politics in the name of institutions will be disappointed.
"The wishes of elements who wanted to destabilise the political system in the name of institutions will be disappointed." About Benazir Bhutto case, she said the government is taking every possible step in accordance with law and constitution to bring culprits to justice.
