Equities remained under pressure on the Lahore Stock Exchange on Tuesday and registered declines amid sluggish trading trend due to lack of buyers' interest. The LSE-25 index lost 14.34 points and closed at 3070.94 against 3085.28 of Monday while the volume reduced to 584,389 shares compared with 1.442 million shares.
The market resumed trading on a depressed note and remained under pressure throughout the day. The investors' cautious approach resulted in low trading. Attock Refinery, NetSol Technologies, D G Khan Cement, WorldCall Telecom, Pace Pakistan, National Bank, Arif Habib Corporation, Nishat Mills, Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim and Lotte Pakistan suffered marginal losses due to selling pressure, while MCB Bank, Adamjee Insurance, Fauji Fertilizer, Fatima Fertilizer, PPL, Pakistan Oilfields, and Engro Polymer and Chemical resisted pressure and ended with marginal gains.
The declining stocks were ahead of advancing ones, as out of 110 active issues, 11 companies registered gains and 21 stayed in minus column, while values of 78 companies remained unchanged. MCB Bank gained Rs 2.70 and Adamjee Insurance improved by Rs 1.75, while Fauji Fertilizer and PPL were up by 95 paisa and 87 paisa respectively.
In the negative column, Attock Refinery lost Rs 1.38 and NetSol Technologies declined by 33 paisa while D G Khan Cement and WorldCall Telecom were down by 26 paisa and 25 paisa respectively. NIB Bank with trading of 100,000 shares stayed as market leader, followed by SilkBank with trading of 80,109 shares.
