Marcel Granollers beat fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco in three sets to win the Gstaad claycourt tournament on Sunday, shrugging off the after-effects of an injury he suffered at Wimbledon. Eighth-seeded Granollers, 25, saw off fourth seed Verdasco 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the Swiss alpine resort to claim his second career title after Houston in 2008.
"Last week was bad for me because I felt a lot of pain in my arm, which I had felt since Wimbledon," said Granollers, who also beat Stanislas Wawrinka and Mikhail Youzhny on his way to the title.
