Vice chancellor SU urged officers to serve community apart from traditional activities
Vice-Chancellor of University of Sindh, Professor Dr Nazir A.Mughal urged upon the officers of the University to maintain dignity, respect time and work with planning to earn honour and be role model to their juniors. He was addressing as Chief Guest the annual gathering of Sindh University.
Officers of Welfare Association organised it in connection with oath-taking ceremony and to bid outgoing body Farewell at Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium of the University on Wednesday evening. The Pro Vice-Chancellors, Deans of the Faculties, all Officers and the representatives of the Officers from Quaid-e-Awam University, Nawabshah, also attended the annual gathering.
The vice-chancellor while sharing about his paper which he presented in a conference on "Tearing down the Ivory Tower" Building the engaged Universities held in Spain on June 13-20, 2011, said that about 1,200 Vice-Chancellors as well as Presidents of world Universities had attended and added that 10 minutes were given to all of them to share the progress of their respective Universities and present status.
Concluding the Conference, Dr Mughal said, the Universities apart from traditional activities, ie, Education and Research should play part in community service. He said that being Officers of the University, it is noble duty being part of society to serve the community by offering volunteer services. He said that there are many options towards volunteer services and added that officers can visit hospitals, schools and by contribution can help the poor people.
