Bears dominated the proceedings at Lahore Stock Exchange where equities showed negative signs amid slight surge in the transaction volume on Thursday. The LSE-25 index moved down to 3081.37 points against the 3130.36 points of Wednesday, showing a decline of 48.99 points, while transaction volume slightly increased to 03.193 million shares, as compared to previous volume of 03.009 million shares.
Pervez Ahmed Securities, Flying Cement and Nimir Industrial Chemical resisted pressure and registered gains whereas Pak Oil Fields, MCB Bank, PSO, PPL, FFC, OGDC, Dawood Hercules, Engro Corporation, HBL and Adamjee Insurance remained under pressure and closed in the minus column. The losers were much more than the gainers, as out of a total of 115 companies, only five showed strength and were closed in green zone, 48 suffered losses, while 62 companies stayed unchanged at their previous levels.
Among the gainers, Pervez Ahmed Securities gained Re 1.00; Flying Cement was improved by paisa-0.99 while Nimir Industrial Chemical was up by paisa-04. Among the losers, Pak Oil Fields shed Rs 9.61, MCB Bank was declined by Rs 6.02, PSO lost Rs 3.80, while PPL, FFC, OGDC, Dawood Hercules, Engro Corporation, HBL and Adamjee Insurance were down by Rs 3.60, Rs 3.45, Rs 3.17, Rs 2.50, Rs 1.55, Rs 1.39 and Rs 1.27, respectively.
According to brokers, investors are not showing fresh positions, hence, the equities showed negative signs. The levels of a few dividend-oriented shares are attractive and investment in such shares can yield positive results, they added.
