Seven more killed in Karachi violence

At least seven more persons including the activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Sunni Tehreek (ST) were killed and several others injured in ongoing spate of targeted killings while a truck and a shop were also torched at various parts of the metropolis here on Tuesday.
According to police, an activist of MQM Noman son of Yaseen was gunned down at Orangi town. The deceased received single bullet on his head and succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Qatar Hospital. Police said the victim, who was the resident of sector 1-D Orangi town, was an active worker of MQM unit-131.
Following the incident, armed men resorted to heavy aerial firing at Gulfamabad, Aligarh Colony, Bukhari Colony, Muslimabad and other surrounding areas where all shops and markets were forced to pull down their shutters.
An activist of ST 30-year-old Ahmed Raza alias Tunta son of Mobin was shot dead at New Karachi sector 11-D. Police said the deceased, who was an activist of ST and living at Ajmair Nagri, was targeted by unknown assailants when he was on the way to home from his mobile shop located at UP Moor. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities.
No case was registered till filing of this report. Meanwhile, an 18-year-old fruit vendor Darwaish son of Gul Wali, Arshad Hussain, Shazia, 10, and Sher Khan sustained bullet wounds during exchange of heavy gunshots at these areas while Darwaish succumbed to his injures on the spot. The other injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed, Qatar and Civil Hospitals for treatment. Unidentified miscreants also set a loading truck (JT-1710) and a shop on fire at Gulfamabad.
Although heavy contingents of police and rangers were deployed at all affected vicinities of Orangi Town, intense gunshots were being heard at several parts of Orangi Town till filing of this report. Two more persons were fallen prey to targeted killing spree at Gulistan Jauhar near Rabia City in the precincts of Sharah Faisal police station.
Two persons namely Bilal Hussain son of Shaban Hussain and Ghulam Mujtaba son of Syed Ahmed were targeted when they were going on motorcycle. Police shifted them to JPMC for legal formalities. Police said both victims, who belonged to Shia Sect, were the resident of Pehalwan Goth.
A bullet-riddled body of a youth was found in a gunny bag at Faqeer Colony Orangi Town in the jurisdiction of Mominabad police station. The victim, who was later identified as 24-year-old Malik Yaqoob alias Babar, was the resident of Ittehad Town. Police registered an FIR 263/11 on the complaint of victim's brother Shoaib and initiated probe. Tension remained engulfed at several areas of Malir including Aasu
Goth, Mahabat Nagar and Jaffar Tayyar Society where shops and all major markets were closed while two persons Essa and Bux were injured in aerial firing. One Aziz Ur Rehman son of Habib Ur Rehman, a resident of Ittehad Town, was killed by unidentified armed man. Police shifted him to CHK for post-mortem. The police registered a case 279/11 on the complaint of victim's brother and initiated further investigation.
