Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Ahmad Raza Tahir has said that Lahore Police ought to utilise all its resources and capabilities to ensure law and order during the holy month of Ramazan. CCPO directed all divisional SPs and SHOs to ensure special patrolling of their respective areas half an hour before Maghrib and Fajr prayers.
He warned that dereliction of duty by any officer and official during the month of Ramazan would not be tolerated at all. Ahmad Raza Tahir directed all divisional SPs and SHOs to visit mosques and imam bargahs in their respective areas to ensure foolproof security arrangements and not depute any security guard without proper verification. Use of loud speakers would not be allowed, except taraveeh prayers, Arabic khutba, azan and prayers, whereas, strict legal action would be taken in the case of any violation, he added. He also said that car parking should be made 100 meter away from the sacred places and a security guard or police constable must be deputed there, while no car should be parked without proper checking.
He directed all divisional SPs and SHOs to ensure checking of hotels, Sunday and Ramazan Bazaars, which should be set up at open places. He further said that thorough checking of lorry station, railway station and other bus stands must be ensured and citizens should be briefed to inform at 15 Police Emergency if they observe any suspicious thing or person. He also directed all divisional SPs to check police personnel deputed at the Mosques or imam bargahs in their respective areas and properly brief them before sending them to duty.
The CCPO said that the flow of traffic should be ensured during rush hours and motorcycles and vehicles should not be allowed to enter in Ramazan and Sunday Bazaars. He directed the Chief Traffic Officer to ensure supervision of all circle officers and traffic wardens on busy roads, who would be responsible for smooth flow of traffic in their respective areas.
