At least 11 militants were killed and five injured during security forces' operation in Kurram Agency, security forces' sources said it on Sunday. Heavy artillery was used in targeting miscreants' hideouts during security forces' operation in Sher Alizai area of central Kurram Agency, killing 11 militants and injuring six others.
According to security forces' sources, clashes between Peace Lashkar and Taliban continued in Masozai area of central Kurram Agency.
Taliban commander Shah Wali was reportedly killed during the fighting while Lashkar also captured a foreigner from the area and handed him over to the security forces.
At least 29 Taliban have been killed and 38 injured in the clash so far which started five days ago. Two volunteers of Peace Lashkar also died in the fighting and 22 sustained injuries. Four members of Lashkar are also reportedly missing.
Security forces' operation against militants has been underway for the last three weeks and more than 180 militants have been killed in actions while dozens other injured besides destruction of several hideouts of the extremists.
The security forces have gained the control of 90 percent of the militancy-hit areas of Kurram Agency.
Meanwhile, clashes between militants and security forces and operation against the extremists have adversely affected the local population in different areas of the Kurram Agency and several families have shifted to safer places.
