Chief Executive, Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco), Mohammad Wali has directed the field officers for making all out efforts for reduction of line losses and try their best to prevent fatal accidents, saying technical staff would be provided all safety instruments in this regard.
He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting of Superintendent Engineers at Wapda House, here. The meeting was held to analyse the pace of progress on reduction of line losses, and recovery and provision of facilities to the customers.
Mohammad Wali expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of few divisions and sub-divisions and directed the concerned officials to improve their performance otherwise they would be taken to task. He said that there is no place for inefficient and dishonest persons in Pesco. He warned that the officers and officials who fail to achieve the given targets would not be spared. He directed the officers to increase the recovery by 100 percent.
Referring to the continued energy crisis in the country, he said that due to change in climate, usage of electricity has increased, resultantly, Pesco has to carry out load-shedding 'seven to eight times in 24 hours' throughout the province.
Chief Executive Pesco directed the field officers to create public awareness for energy conservation and use all means to get public co-operation so that maximum energy could be saved, because overloading also causes damage to distribution transformers. He also directed the technical staff to adopt all safety measures to prevent fatal accidents during work. He directed that all kinds of safety instruments would be provided to the technical staff and safety seminars must be arranged for the awareness of technical staff. He urged the technical staff to follow the safety code and policy for their own safety.
On the increasing ratio of damaging of distribution transformers, Wali said that to prevent the damaging, the a system, balanced on all of three phases, should be established, adding that consumers should also avoid illegal use of electricity as overloading is the main cause of damaging of transformers. He directed the officers to use their energies for the betterment of the company and reduce line losses and enhance recovery as per target already given to them. Earlier, the S.Es gave comprehensive presentations, regarding the line losses, recovery and pace of developmental works in their respective circles.
