The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) informed the court that former President Pervez Musharraf possesses a 1000 sq ft plot in a Gwadar Housing Scheme and 8-acre Farm House in Chak Shahzad Islamabad, while details regarding his remaining property are still to be found.
The FIA presented before the court an initial report regarding the details of assets of Pervez Musharraf, who was declared proclaimed offender in Benazir Bhutto's death case, and procedure for confiscation of property is in process. Judge of Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) III, Shahid Rafiq resumed hearing of the death of Benazir Bhutto in high security Central Adiala Jail.
The FIA Special Prosecutor informed the court that the FIA has sent letters to all chief secretaries and concerned housing societies to obtain details of property of Pervez Musharraf. He said that letters were also sent to General Headquarters (GHQ), Adjutant General, Cantonment Boards and Defence Housing Societies (DHAs) to get the details of the property of former president round the country, but no response has been received so far.
Taking serious note of the slackness from investigation agency, the judge asked the FIA to ensure to present a detailed report in the court on next hearing fixed on August 10.
The FIA prosecutor informed the court that details so far were obtained from Balochistan, Capital Development Authority (CDA) Islamabad and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). According to the details former president possesses a 1000 sq ft plot in Shanghar Housing Scheme Gwadar, an 8 acre Farm House in Islamabad and he also has six accounts in different banks including Bank Alfalah, Habib Metropolitan Bank, MCB Bank, Allied Bank, National Bank of Pakistan and Metropolitan Bank.
The court was informed that Pervez Musharraf has $190,000 in foreign currency account of National Bank of Pakistan and over Rs 40 million are deposited in Habib Metropolitan Bank. The FIA has started process for confiscation of movable and immovable property of Musharraf under section 88, after he was declared proclaimed offender and he failed to appear before the court in BB death case.
After inducting Musharraf in BB death case, FIA got arrest warrants but the UK Government refused to hand over Musharraf to Pakistan as there is no extradition treaty between the two countries. After failure in arrest of Musharraf the FIA pleaded before the ATC to declarer Musharraf as proclaimed offender and then process for confiscation of his property was also started.
