Fixing eatables rates: government urged to hold meeting with price body

Lahore Retailers and General Merchants Association (LRGMA) and Anjuman-e-Tajran Lahore (Alkhidmat Group) have urged Punjab government to immediately convene meeting of the price control committee to fix the prices of eatables afresh. This demand was raised at a meeting of both the organisations with LRGMA President, Rao Muhammad Akram Khan in the chair.
Akram said that prices of eatables have increased in the wholesale market a lot and increasing with every passing day, but rates fixed at retail level are very low and need to be revised. He said that old rates are creating many problems and affecting businesses of the retailers. He further said tat arrest of small shopkeepers and imposition of fines and registration of cases has become a routine of the day.
