Opposition benches of Punjab Assembly in its 28th session here on Friday stressed upon the Chair Rana Muhammad Iqbal to issue production order of opposition legislator Moonis Elahi. The Chair on the occasion refused to comply with the demand stating that he did not have authority to produce him.
Opposition benches here quoting the example of production order of MNA Anjum Aqeel passed by National Assembly Speaker, here in the provincial assembly too emphasised upon the speaker to follow the suit. The Chair here again explained that he did not have authority as possessed by the National Assembly Speaker. Rana Sanaullah Minister Law speaking on the point stated about the provincial government's inability here too. Opposition members in the situation made a walkout, and they came in the House later on.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Members of Punjab Assembly from Mandi Bhaudin in the Punjab Assembly session castigated the provincial government for not giving development funds for their area. They averred that despite emphasising on provincial government a number of times, it had not complied with their request. They made a walkout from the session pointing that they would not join the session unless their demands are met.
Punjab Assembly session which was primarily called by opposition benches on Friday could not discuss the main issue of law and order as opposition leader Raja Riaz stressed upon dealing with production order of Moonis Elahi in the House. He reprimanded government, failing to act on the matter.
In Punjab Assembly session Minister Mutaba Shuja-ur Rehman answering queries on School Education stated that there are 27 schools in Lahore where posts of 37 science teachers are vacant because of varied reasons. He said draft of Recruitment Policy is ready and would be sent to Chief Minister Punjab for approval soon.
The Minister to a query pointed that under Secondary and Higher Education 4,286 labs have been established in the Province since 2009-10. He said with the assistance of federal government in year 2008 a total number of 515 IT Labs were established in 36 districts of Punjab.
On the occasion MPA Asghar Munda mentioned about the lack of quorum, on which Speaker after giving some time for quorum fulfilment, prorogued the House indefinitely.
