The district administration reopened Shapalam Bridge in district Dir Upper that was washed away during last year's devastating floods. Dr Fakhar Alam, Commissioner Malakand division formally reopened the Bridge here on Friday. District communication officer, Dir Lower, Mehmood Aslam Wazir, along with other officials and local elders was present on the occasion.
About 30,000 among the population of the area will be reconnected after construction of the Bridge. The last year's flash floods had washed away different linkage bridges in Malakand division and adjacent districts, due to which the communication was cut off between other villages. Keeping in view people's difficulty and connectivity problems, the government had reconstructed and reopened 300-ft long Shapalam Bridge in Dir Upper.
Addressing on the occasion, Dr Fakhar Alam said that the government is committed to provide transportation facilities, saying that it has initiated different developmental projects under the Malakand development programme.
