The Karachi Port handled 257,748 tonnes of cargo including 201,024 tonnes of import cargo, 56,724 tonnes of export cargo and 4,394 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 201,024 tonnes comprised of 72,259 tonnes of containerised cargo; 815 tonnes of general cargo; 14,604 tonnes of bulk cargo: 5,871 tonnes of DAP; 332 tonnes of wheat; 4,101 tonnes of chickpeas; 2,446 tonnes of yellow peas and 113,346 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 56,724 tonnes comprised of 47,056 tonnes of containerised cargo; 52 tonnes of general cargo; 7,536 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,180 tonnes of cement; 6,356 tonnes of wheat and 2,080 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Twelve ships namely Emirates Indus, APL Chicago, MSC Anafi, CSL Ride, Silver Zone, Abtin-1, Manar, Iron Monger-5, SCF Provider, Dlace, Nizar-M and Kuniang carrying six container ships, rock phosphate, scrap, two oil tankers, wheat and general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Eleven vessels viz Uru Bhum, Silver Zone, APL Shenzhen, Lindavia, Bunga Raya Lima, Iron Butterfly, Spar Orion, Iron Monger-5, Primo Stealth, MT Lahore and Capricornus Leader carrying five container ships, two general cargo ships, scrap, two oil tankers and car carrier are currently at the berths.
Seven ships namely APL Shenzhen, Uru Bhum, Bunga Raya Lima, Primo Stealth, MT Lahore, Omaha Belle and Rosy Falcon carrying three container ships, two oil tankers, DAP carrier and wheat carrier expected to sail on Monday.
Six vessels viz Salis, Hyundai Freedom, Caribbean Sea, Huge SW, Aqua Blue and MT Quetta carrying three container ships, two steel carrier and crude oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Monday, while four vessels viz TS Singapore, APL Cyprus, Wan Hai-603 and Ozay-5 carrying three container ships and ethanol carrier respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total export cargo of 5,492 tonnes includes 728 tonnes of wheat and 4,764 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Two ships namely Maersk Wisconsin and MV Diaman Falcon sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely Al-Kuwaitiah is expected to sail later on the same day.
A total number of five vessels Maersk Wisconsin, MV Diaman Falcon, Wales-II, Theoforos-I and Al-Kuwaitiah are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, coal and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Four ships namely CSAV Appennini, Al-Salam-II, Catterick and Amagi Galaxy carrying containers, diesel oil, chemicals and edible oil are currently at the outer anchorage.
A total number of two vessels viz Catterick and Amagi Galaxy carrying chemicals and edible oil are expected to take berths at Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.
