Sindh University Syndicate, in its 180th meeting, has recommended estimated budget of rupees 2571.883 million with a deficit of Rs 374.506 million for the year 2011-12 to the ensuing meeting of varsity senate, here on Saturday. The meeting was presided over by Vice Chancellor of the varsity, Professor Dr Nazir A. Mughal.
The meeting recommended to the senate the revised budget of Rs 1848.783 million with a surplus Rs 376.741 million for year 2010-11. The syndicate meeting proposed increase in the amount allocated for research, repair and maintenance and other key areas. The meeting appreciated efforts made by the Vice Chancellor for surplus revised budget for year 2010-11 through its economic measures and advised the finance wing to spent money for development and improvement of the infrastructure of the university.
The meeting also approved revised basic pay scales, allowances and pension policy for university employees, as notified by the federal government and also inclusion of living cost allowances to seven percent in the pensionable emoluments. The meeting also approved recommendations of 149th meeting of the selection board held on July 15.
The meeting, while approving a policy and procedure to hand-over electricity and gas billing in the colony area to Hesco and SSGC, decided that in first instant SSGC management will be contacted to install gas meters. The syndicate approved setting up of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Research Foundation and approved rupees one million at the initial stage for the purpose.
