Convenor Pesticide subcommittee, Asif Manzoor Mohal, has directed the officers of the Agriculture Department to play their due role in eradication of fake and substandard agricultural pesticides from their respective districts. He also directed that officers should trace out the places where these fake or substandard pesticides are being processed instead of harassing the dealers. He assured that the government would take immediate action on any such information.
These views were expressed by him while speaking to the officers of Pest Warning wing of the Punjab agriculture department deputed in paddy growing areas of the province. The meeting held in Agriculture House here on Saturday.
He said that amended act for eradication of fake and adulterated pesticides would soon be enforced, which would ensure a strong action against those involved in heinous business of fake and substandard pesticides.
Director Pest Warning and Quality Control Malik Muhammad Fayyaz speaking at the start of the meeting claimed that the movement launched against fake pesticides under the Chairman of Agriculture Task Force had started bearing fruits. He claimed graph of adulterated pesticides had come down to 2.9 percent from 4.3 percent and hoped that soon growers would have access to adulteration-free pesticides.
