Member of National Assembly (MNA) Malik Shakeel Awan on Saturday said that the application forms for Yellow Cab Scheme would be available for public from Sunday. Talking to APP, Shakeel Awan said the forms could be downloaded from the web-site of Punjab Government www.portal.punjab.govt.pk or Bank of Punjab www.bop.com.pk.
Photocopy of the form would also be acceptable, he added. The MNA said that the forms could be submitted at all branches of Bank of Punjab till July 30. He said that under the scheme, 20,000 vehicles would be distributed while 40 percent quota has been fixed for 11 districts of South Punjab.
He said through yellow cabs, unemployed youth would be able to earn their livelihood in a respectable way. Rs 4.5 billion have been allocated in the provincial budget for the scheme, he added. The MNA said under the scheme, Suzuki Mehran and Bolan in yellow and black colours would be given to the applicants, on easy instalments, who would fulfil the criteria.
The MNA said the applicants would have to make down-payment of Rs 100,000 while the remaining amount would be paid in instalments without any interest. He claimed that the scheme would be transparent, as computerised balloting would be held at divisional level for distribution of vehicles in the presence of electronic media.
Under the scheme, 2,500 vehicles will be distributed among the winners of the draw every month and the process of distribution of 20,000 vehicles will be completed in eight months, he informed.
Persons having intermediate or equivalent academic qualification will be eligible to apply, he said, adding successful applicants will have to make 20 percent down payment at the time of delivery and the remaining amount in easy monthly instalments. Advertisements regarding details of Yellow Cab Scheme are also being published in national newspapers, he added.
