Hina Rabbani meets Sri Lankan minister

Sri Lankan Minister for External Affairs, Professor G.L. Peiris met the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hina Rabbani Khar, here on Friday. The minister of state expressed satisfaction at the successful holding of the 10th Session of the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Joint Economic Commission (JEC) in Islamabad on July 4-5, 2011.
She added that the FTA review meeting and Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) negotiations to be held in August 2011 in Colombo would help enhance the bilateral trade.
The minister of state felicitated the people and Government of Sri Lanka on the successful holding of the Buddhist Exhibition in Sri Lanka on the occasion of 2600th year of Attainment of Enlightenment by Lord Buddha. Sri Lankan External Affairs Minister thanked the Government of Pakistan for its support in the development and progress of Sri Lanka. The Minister emphasised the need for translating the close relationship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka into economic progress and prosperity for the peoples of the two countries. Both ministers agreed that relations between the two countries are based on shared understanding on a wide range of regional and international issues.-PR
