The Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) on Sunday urged the government to execute Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline as early as possible in order to run wheel of the industry. "The country is facing gas scarcity mainly because household consumption of gas has been increasing rapidly. To fulfil the current demand of gas, the government must execute Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project," said MCCI President Shahid Naseem Khokhar.
The MCCI president said that industrial area of Multan is located on Shershah road, which has been facing various problems of gas outages. He said that MCCI would cooperate with Sui Northern Gas officials for resolving such problems. He said that business community of Southern Punjab has been facing severe problem of low gas pressure. There was a dire need of adjustment in the load shedding schedules, he added. Sui Northern Gas general manager said, "We are always in need of full support from the business community in overcoming such issues". He agreed that the government should complete the gas pipeline projects, which would help to overcome energy crisis.
