Patient category system has been introduced in emergency department of Services Hospital with the objective to provide prompt and immediate medical aid to patient in serious condition. The most serious patients will be tagged in A category after which the maximum attention of duty officers and staff would be diverted to him.
Patients will also be categorised as B and C according to their condition. Medical Superintendent of Services Hospital, Dr Muhammad Javed said that a medical officer on duty would decide the category after the check-up at the very arrival of the patient into emergency ward. The doctors and paramedical staff will treat the patient accordingly, otherwise would face departmental action.
Dr Muhammad Javed further said that a two week refresher course for doctors, nurses and officials of emergency ward was being arranged in order to enhance the performance of the department. He said that nurses specialised in accident and emergency were being deployed in emergency ward. He informed that the entry of medical representative into emergency ward has been completely banned so that doctors could attend the patients without wasting their precious time.
