Nawaz Sharif has expressed grave concern over situation in Karachi and said that if the situation demands calling of army for maintenance of law & order there, the army should perform duty under the control of an elected government. He said this while talking to reporters here on Saturday after condoling with the family members of late Khawaja Pervez.
PML-N leader Saad Rafique was also present on the occasion. Referring to the statement of Interior Minister Rehman Malik regarding having knowledge about those responsible for violence and killings in Karachi, he said why Rehman Malik did not take action against the culprits. "Why Rehman Malik was not arresting the culprits?" he questioned. He said he was deeply grieved over terrible happenings in Karachi.
About carrying out army operation in Karachi, he said that if the government feels that police, rangers and FC have failed in controlling the situation and decides calling army for maintenance of law and order in Karachi, the army should perform duty under the control of an elected government. About the statement of Imran Khan regarding grand opposition alliance, he said that Imran had fled from the scene at the time of long march.
Regarding objection of Governor of Punjab over calling IG Punjab Police at Raiwind, he said that threatening IGP in this way is not right step. In Rawalpindi, FIA officials are threatening administration for fulfilling their objectives, he said, adding: "The person who is passing orders remained involved in wrong practices during service."
He said the PPP-led government is showing indifferent attitude on important issues "and we have no hope of any good from it". He said the PML-N made best possible efforts to convince the government to implement national agenda but it had shown non-serious attitude. Earlier, Nawaz condoled with the family members of Khawaja Pervaiz over his sad demise. He also offered "fateha" for the eternal peace of departed soul.
