Chairman Pakistan Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (PCSIR), Dr Shaukat Pervaiz said that the power loadshedding could be controlled by generating electricity through coal fed technology within three years. Talking to Pakistan Television (PTV), he said that Pakistan has world's largest coal deposits of 186 billion tons.
He said coal could be used for generation of energy at cheaper cost. He said if coal was used for generating energy, diesel another source as fuel could be obtained at very low cost. "Pakistani scientist, engineers and technologists had done successful experiment to make gas, diesel and electricity with coal," he said. Responding to a question, he said that our coal is qualitative and can be used for creating energy.
Government is much serious in this project and providing all type of assistance. Dr Pervaiz said that gasses like carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide can pollute the environment, would bring to the reactor and converted into diesel. The chairman also invited private sector to invest in this project so that continuous electricity could be supplied to people at reasonable tariff.
