The Lahore High Court on Thursday sought reply from Punjab government in a petition seeking direction to government for smooth operation of Benazir Women Crisis Centres (BWCC) which have been transferred to provinces after devolution of Ministry of Women Development under 18th constitutional amendment.
The petitioner Gul Zaman pleaded that the federal government had released funds to provinces to keep these centres operative but the Punjab government had put programme on back burners. He said that the Punjab government had made no effort so far to make these centres functional. The petitioner prayed the court to issue direction to Punjab government to utilise funds and make these centres functional.
