The Karachi Port handled 253,640 tonnes of cargo including 177,149 tonnes of import cargo, 76,491 tonnes of export cargo and 6,086 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 177,149 tonnes comprised of 81,830 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,309 tonnes of general cargo; 9,554 tonnes of coal and 83,456 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 76,491 tonnes comprised of 45,469 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,026 tonnes of general cargo; 25,496 tonnes of bulk cargo: 914 tonnes of cement; 11,844 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 11,425 tonnes of wheat; 1,313 tonnes of rice and 4,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Fourteen ships namely Trave Trader, Emirates Kabir, Al-Mirqab, APL Guangzhou, Lt. Genova, CSL Ride, Kota Azam, Oriental Marguerite, Ginga Kite, Alliance Charleston, President New York, Vera-9, Mahmut Saka and Glory River carrying seven container ships, two oil tankers, two vehicle carriers, two coal carriers and cement carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Fifteen vessels viz Lt. Genova, Kota Azam, Northern Valence, Toroko, Bunga Raya Empat, APL Brisbane, MT Quetta, Ginga Kite, Shoko Maru, UACC Sound, Alliance Charleston, President New York, Sea Wave, TB Dominant and Nizar-M carrying six container ships, four oil tankers, two vehicle carriers, cement carrier, tug ship and general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
Four ships namely APL Brisbane, Bunga Raya Empat, UACC Sound and Shoko Maru with two container ships and two oil tankers respectively expected to sail on Monday. Six vessels viz MT Lahore, CS Summer, Dongbu Promi-2, Vira Bhum, Hyundai General and Cleantec with crude oil tanker, palm oil tanker, chemicals carrier, two container ships and DAP carrier due to arrive on Monday, while four vessels viz APL Agate, Dandie, Ital Otima and Lodestar Gana carrying three container ships and chemicals carrier respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
