A grand tribal Jirga held here on Monday demanded of the government to implement the unanimous resolution of the parliament, stop military operation in Fata and negotiate with the militants through Jirgas. The Jirga also demanded trail of those who were arrested from Fata and still languishing in jails whereas the Jirga also urged to stop arrest and fining the tribal people on the name of 'Search Operations'.
The Jirga, which was called by Jamaat-e-Islami, was attended by leaders of JUI-F, PML-N, PPP, ANP, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, PML-Q, Journalists, Members National Assembly from Fata. It urged the government to reject US pressure of "do more" and adopt a policy of negotiation to stop military operations in Fata. The tribesmen also shown their strong resentment over drone attack and termed it direct attack on Pakistan's sovereignty.
