Japan has shown its willingness to provide both technical and economic assistance to promote science education in Pakistan. Ambassador of Japan Hiroshi Oe and Federal Minister for Science & Technology Mir Changez Khan Jamali had a meeting at minister's office on Friday.
Jamali apprised Hiroshima Oe of different projects and initiatives launched by his ministry for the progress in the field of science and education. Both sides discussed ways of mutual co-operation to improve the quality of primary and higher education in Pakistan particularly in promoting the education of science. The minister said that the spread of education was the best way to deal with the threat of extremism and terrorism. They also discussed ways to cope with the challenge of energy crisis in Pakistan.
Hiroshi Oe said that Pakistan has a great potential to pursue solar and wind energy projects to meet its energy demands. Jamali said that Japan could assist Pakistan in transforming the sector of science and technology particularly in the field of energy and electronics through technical assistance. Both sides also committed to expedite the process of exchange of students, researchers and technical experts.
