Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 79,049 tonnes of cargo including 48,326 tonnes of import cargo, 30,723 tonnes of export cargo and 4,184 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 48,326 tonnes comprised of 26,726 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,316 tonnes of general cargo; 2,500 tonnes of coal and 15,784 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 30,723 tonnes comprised of 26,005 tonnes of containerised cargo; 72 tonnes of general cargo; 4,446 tonnes of bulk cargo: 562 tonnes of cement; 3,884 tonnes of wheat and 200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Three ships namely Targale, Oriental Protea and Valdivia carrying oil tanker, ethanol carrier and container ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Eight vessels viz Trave Trader, CSL Ride, Cape Gabriel, J. Friend, Vera-9, Norca, Celesta and Remi carrying three container ships, general cargo ship, coal carrier and three oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths. Three ships namely King Brave, Cape Gabriel and CSL Ride with general cargo ship and two container ships respectively expected to sail on Thursday, while three ships namely Celesta, Norca and Remi with three oil tankers respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
A container vessel viz Al-Mirqab due to arrive on Thursday, while eight vessels viz MT Quetta, Glory River, Kota Azam, APL Guangzhou, Emirates Kabir, Lt Genova, OOCL Charleston and Siam Sapphire carrying crude oil tanker, cement carrier, five container ships and wheat carrier respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

Two ships namely Saudi Tabuk and CGM Waginer sailed out to sea on Thursday morning. A total number of eight vessels viz CGM Waginer, Saudi Tabuk, MV Acacia-N, MV Orient-III, Tamil Nadu, MV Ataman, Zaliv Vostok and Chembulk Tortola are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, canola seeds, furnace oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours. Four ships namely Nora Maersk, OOCL Kobe, CSAV Canta Brain and Sea Lion carrying three container ships and furnace oil tanker are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three vessels viz Nora Maersk, OOCL Kobe and CSAV Canta Brain carrying three container ships are expected to take berths at Containers Terminal on Thursday.
