Shanghai copper up

Published Updated

Copper edged up on Tuesday on increasing confidence that the Greek parliament will pass an unpopular austerity plan and hopes that a package proposed by France to voluntarily rollover debt would gain wider acceptance. The most-active September copper contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed 0.5 percent higher at 67,170 yuan per tonne, after losing 1.5 percent previously. Aluminium rose 0.3 percent and 0.4 percent, on the LME and ShFE, respectively.
