Capital Police have nabbed 194 proclaimed offenders, 576 court absconders, besides registering a total of 435 cases for possessing illegal weapons and 513 cases of drug peddling at various police stations during last five months of the current year, said a report presented in a crime review meeting of Islamabad Police.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Bani Amin Khan presided over his first ever meeting after assuming the charge as Capital Police chief. The meeting reviewed the overall crime and law and order situation prevailing in the Capital city. The participants of the meeting were informed that during the first five months of the current year Capital Police sent 1930 cases to courts after completion of investigation on them. Police nabbed 1441 suspects during different search operations launched in the Capital to check the people living illegally.
About the ongoing survey regarding inhabitants of the Capital, the IGP was informed that Islamabad Police are effectively maintaining the record of tenants as well as residents and the survey would be completed in the next week. The IGP Islamabad ordered the police officials to take steps for effective patrolling and checking at the various points of the city. The IGP has ordered establishment of halting points at security check points in the city for effective checking and maintain high vigilance against the suspects.
He asked SPs and DSPs to conduct visit themselves at the policing stations and maintain complete co-ordination for elaborate security. During the meeting, the IGP also issued directions to arrest the proclaimed offenders and court absconders on priority basis and said that performance of police officials would be conducted in the next meeting to be held in the beginning of next month.
SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan has said that security issue for upcoming AJK election is an important issue and no laxity would be tolerated in this regard. The Station House Officer of Nilore police station Inspector Siddique was appreciated by the IGP for his brilliant performance. The IGP asked other SHOs to ensure good performance.
The SSP directed all SDPOs and SHOs to listen public complaints, initiate required legal action and redress it on merit without fear or favour. He said police officer will be dealt severely in case of any complaint of highhandedness against him. The SSP asked all SHOs to improve their performance otherwise disciplinary action will be taken over poor performance.
