Wheat procurement process well under way

Wheat procurement process by the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) for the enhanced target is well under way. Six monitoring teams comprising senior and middle level administrative management are supervising the distribution of gunny bags and wheat procurement process to ensure transparency and facilitate the small growers to the maximum.
A spokesman of the corporation said on Monday that the corporation had already achieved its initial target assigned by the federal government of procuring 1.3 million tons of wheat. The Passco management completed its target procuring 1.3 million tons of wheat by ensuring judicious issuance of Bardana through proper monitoring and vigilance.
The government enhanced the target of Passco from 1.3 million tons to 1.5 million tons. The enhanced quantity has been distributed to various zones for procurement. To make the whole process absolutely transparent and to ensure benefit to the growers, six monitoring teams comprising seniors and middle management from the Head Office have been constituted that are supervising the issue of bardana and collection of wheat.
The spokesman further said that Passco since its inspection has been endeavoring to assist and benefit growers and all out efforts now are also being made that the enhanced quantity is issued to the genuine growers. 'Growers have welcomed and appreciated the efforts of the corporation to facilitate the small growers to the maximum,' the spokesman concluded.-PR
