Protection of Punjab wheat stocks: food department makes arrangement

Punjab Food Minister, Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor has said the Provincial Food Department has made comprehensive arrangements to protect five million tons of wheat stocks present in its godowns and also under open sky. In a statement issued on Monday Ghafoor said that five million tons of wheat stock was safe and stocks under open sky had been covered with quality tarpaulins while a new protection polyethylene cap has also been introduced.
He claimed this new protection is best replacement of canvas tarpaulins. He said that the provincial food department is also providing wheat to exporters and during the procurement drive around 500,000 metric tons of wheat was purchased by the exporters from the Punjab province.
