Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) will start its test-run from June 28, Business Recorder learnt. SRB has to start its proper functioning of collecting Sales Tax on Services (SToS) from July 1, 2011 as per schedule. Rules and Regulations have been made by team of SRB, which were sent to provincial Law department for legal opinion a few days ago, sources told.
A meeting of officials of Law department and SRB has been held on 25th June (Yesterday) in this regard. Officials of Law department have told during the meeting that rules and regulations are under study, legal opinion would be provided on 27th June (Tomorrow), sources told.
The SRB team has made all kinds of forms and other required paper material in this regard. Sources informed that officials of SRB have finalised locations of sub-offices of SRB, which would be opened in Hyderabad, Sukkur and one more in Karachi within next couple of days.
One more office of SRB in Karachi would be opened nearby Port Qasim Authority (PQA), sources added. Initially, SRB would collect SToS from 4,309 registered taxpayer companies and individuals which list has been received from Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). It is pertinent to mention here that after passage of 18th constitutional amendment, SToS along with Central Excise Duty (CED) and workers welfare fund (WWF) had come under provincial jurisdiction. Sindh government had established Sindh Revenue Board to collect sales tax on various services.
