Published Updated

A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) issued release order of Hafiz Nazar nabbed in connection with the killing of Federal Minority Affairs Minister Shahbaz Bhatti. Judge Pervaiz Ali Shah heard the Shahbaz Bhatti murder case. Investigation Officer Inspector Sajjad Bokhari sought another five-day extension in physical remand of the accused.
The judge asked what progress had been made during the previously five-day police remand. On this, the Inspector said that the suspect did not reveal anything during the interrogation. The court dismissed the police plea for remand and acquitted the suspect for police failure to produce any evidence. Police said they had arrested Nazar on the basis of a statement by a witness in the case, Tahir Naveed Bhatti. On Saturday, police presented the accused in the court and sought extension in the remand, which the court refused.
