Secretary Health Punjab, Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, with a view to run the public sector hospitals with full capacity and provide maximum healthcare facilities to the people has directed to fill all vacant posts in public sector hospitals on priority basis.
He was presiding over a meeting to review the performance of different sections of the department, here on Sunday. Special Secretary Health, Wasim Mukhtar, Additional Secretary Development, Moazam Usman, Additional Secretary, Khursheed Ali Zaidi, Director General Health, Dr Aslam Chaudhry, Additional Secretary Technical Dr Mushtaq Sulehria, Deputy Secretary Admin Saleha Saeed, Deputy General, Dr Shoaib and Law Officers of the Department attended the meeting.
The Secretary Health directed that immediate steps would be taken to fill all vacant posts through District Selection Boards (DSBs) on ad hoc basis and the details of vacant posts should also be sent to Punjab Public Service Commission for regular appointment.
He said that hospitals could not be left without doctors. He further directed DG Health the promotion cases of doctors must be disposed of on priority basis and DPC meeting must be held on regular basis. He said that the writing of Annual Confidential Reports (ACR) of doctors is the prime responsibility of the concerned reporting officers and action should be taken against such officers who did not perform their responsibilities. He directed all Medical Superintendents of public sector hospitals to complete ACRs of the doctors working in their respective hospitals.
The Secretary Health handed over the transfer posting powers of grade 1 to 15 to Director General Health Punjab and said that in future all transfer postings of such officials would be made by DG HS office instead of Health Department Secretariat.
The meeting also reviewed the performance of Legal Cell of Health Department. The Secretary Health directed the law officers to peruse the cases in the courts effectively. He directed them that they should make close co-ordination with the office of Advocate General Punjab in this regard.
He said that preparation of paragraph-wise comments was the responsibility of concerned section of the department while law officers are bound to vet them according to the legal requirements. He said that coordination between law officers and different sections of the department is very important.
The meeting reviewed the performance of different sections of the department and disposal of transfer posting cases of doctors also considered and the Additional Secretaries briefed the Health Secretary about the performance of their respective wings.
