Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, said that the most modern Forensic Lab of South Asia is being set up in the provincial metropolis which will prove to be a milestone in the investigation of crimes on scientific lines, tracing out criminals and provision of justice to the people of the country especially in Punjab.
He said that the building has been completed and machinery has also arrived while the Forensic Lab will start functioning soon. He was talking to media persons during his visit to Punjab Forensic Science Agency at Thokar Niaz Beg here on Sunday. The Chief Minister said that the project of setting up Forensic Lab of international standard is very important which will help trace out criminal elements for bringing them to book. He said that there are some technological problems with regard to the Forensic Lab and a committee has been constituted, which will submit its recommendations this week.
Earlier, Project Director Nayyer Mahmood apprised the Chief Minister of the progress on the Forensic Lab project.
