Secretary Health Punjab, Muhammad Javed Khan, taking notice of out of order medical equipment and machinery of government hospitals, has constituted a special squad comprising Directors of Medical Equipment Workshops of Lahore, Sargodha and Multan for maintenance of medical equipment and machinery.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Director General Health Punjab Dr Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry, here on Friday, which was attended by Director Health Management Information Dr Anwar Janjua, Director Medical Workshop Lahore Engineer Tariq Mehmood, Director Sargodha Workshop Muhammad Afzal Warriach and Director Multan Workshop Ahsan Mian.
DG Health in the light of the instructions of Secretary Health said that Tehsil and District Headquarters Hospitals of various districts have been linked with the three workshops and directors of medical equipment workshops will visit various districts and inspect medical equipments of hospitals and maintain a constant contact with medical superintendents of the hospitals.
Directors of Medical Workshops have been directed to ensure the timely repair and maintenance of out of order medical equipments in accordance with the lists sent by Medical Superintendents of the hospitals and arrangements be made for the auctioning of redundant machinery. They have also been directed to immediately point out any official or technician involved in damaging medical equipment immediately to the Health Department so that strict action could be taken against such elements.
Dr Aslam Chaudhry said that the aim of these measures is to redress public complaints regarding out of order medical equipments and machinery of the hospitals and ensure them functional so that the poor patients will not have to visit private hospitals and laboratories regarding their treatment at a cost of thousands of rupees.
