The Karachi Port handled 135,343 tonnes of cargo including 101,961 tonnes of import cargo, 33,382 tonnes of export cargo and 3,925 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 101,961 tonnes comprised of 26,137 tonnes of containerised cargo; 33,824 tonnes of coal and 42,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 33,382 tonnes comprised of 22,545 tonnes of containerised cargo; 132 tonnes of general cargo; 10,705 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,975 tonnes of cement and 8,730 tonnes of wheat. A container ship namely President Adams sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Six vessels viz Rio Grande Express, Hyundai Confidence, Hanjin Beijiang, Lt. Trieste, Badr, Serasih-2 and Rio Grande Express carrying four container ships, oil tanker and bulk cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. Four ships namely Nord Observer, Alliance Norfolk, Hyundai Confidence and Rio Grande Express with oil tanker, vehicles carrier and two container ships expected to sail on Thursday, while two ships namely Badr and Greenwich Bridge with oil tanker and container ship are expected to sail on Friday.
Four vessels viz Oriental Chemi, Emirates Marina, Maritime Setoshio and Spar Virgo carrying base oil tanker, container ship and two coal carriers respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while ten vessels viz Sapphire-T, YC Lilac, Overseas Leyte, Hansa Century, Salia, APL Chicago, Honour, Prestige New York, Yong Xong and Calm Coral carrying chemicals, ethanol, naphtha, three container ships, two vehicle ships, steel coils and general cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
Five ships namely MT Al-Salam-II, ACX Hibicus, CGM Rossini, Golden Ambrosia and MV Abdul sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two ships namely MV Alexi-I and Catterick are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of twelve vessels viz ACX Hibicus, CGM Rossini, MV Alexi-I, MV Abdul, Sam Eagle, MV Irini, Nahide-M, Golden Ambrosia, MT Al-Salam-II, Atena and MV Catterick are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, wheat, chemicals, diesel oil, iron ore and asphalt respectively during last 24 hours.
Five ships namely Indigo Ocean, Iron Monger-5, MT Kassos, Saigon Express and CSAV Jura carrying wheat, two furnace oil tankers and two container ships respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of four vessels viz MT Kassos, Saigon Express, CSAV Jura and Al-Azizoo carrying chemicals and edible oil respectively are expected to take berths at FOTCO Oil Terminal, Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal (MW1) respectively on Thursday.
