Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 155,046 tonnes of cargo including 89,275 tonnes of import cargo, 65,771 tonnes of export cargo and 5,276 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 89,275 tonnes comprised of 28,564 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,711 tonnes of bulk cargo: 12,000 tonnes of coal; 1,280 tonnes of canola seeds; 2,491 tonnes of rice and 45,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 65,771 tonnes comprised of 50,230 tonnes of containerised cargo; 798 tonnes of general cargo; 10,443 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,528 tonnes of cement; 8,915 tonnes of wheat and 4,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Seven ships namely Ocean Hoet, OEL Trust, Macrapania, Taroco, Caeibbean Sea, Stanford Pride and Al-Khaliq carrying coal carrier, four container ships, tug and wheat carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Six vessels viz APL Ruby, Cosco Kawasaki, Hanjin Monaco, Yuan Teng, MT Lahore and Ocean Friend carrying three container ships, general cargo ship, oil tankers and bulk cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. Five ships namely MT Lahore, Golden Falcon, Seagull-D, Hanjin Monaco and CSL Ride with crude oil tanker, rice carrier, wheat carrier and two container ships expected to sail on Tuesday.
Four vessels viz Badr, Hyundai Confidence, President Adams and Serasih-2 carrying crude oil tanker, two container ships and coal carrier respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while five vessels viz Lt Triesta, Hanjin Beijiang, Rio Grande Express and Sea Wave carrying four container ships and sulphur carrier respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

The total export cargo of 12,335 tonnes includes 7,868 tonnes of wheat; 3,208 tonnes of cement and 1,259 tonnes of rice. MV Al-Azizoo sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely MV Fair Sprit and Golden Ambrosia are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz MV Alexi-I, MV Abdul, MV Irini, Nahide-M, Golden Ambrosia, Fair Sprit and MV Argent Eye Bright are currently occupying berths to load/offload cement, rice, wheat, chemicals, furnace oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours. Eight ships namely Sam Eagle, Al-Salam-II, Rdeim, CGM Mozart, Atena, UASC Zam Zam, Catterrick and Al-Sabahia carrying wheat, diesel oil, asphalt, containers, iron ore and chemicals respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of six vessels viz MV UASC Zam Zam, CGM Mozart, Al-Sabahia, Sam Eagle, Al-Salam-II and MV Atena are expected to take berths at Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal (MW3), FOTCO Oil Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Berth respectively on Tuesday.
