I am delighted to know that Total Communications, Pakistan is organising a mega event the "3rd International Conference & Exhibition-2011" on Bangladesh e-Banking & Mobile Commerce in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 15 June 2011. Leading international and local experts of the field are going to exchange their views and experiences on the emerging technologies and will discuss the challenges faced by the industry in implementing and offering e-banking services to the customers.
The conference is expected to be attended by prominent government functionaries, policymakers, businessmen and experts from the IT, Banking and Financial sectors from Bangladesh and abroad. The present government of Bangladesh has declared the Vision 2021 in the election manifesto witch targets establishment of a resourceful and modern country by 2021 through effective use of information and communication technology - a "Digital Bangladesh".
The main idea of a Digital Bangladesh is to groom the nation as a knowledge-based middle-income country by the year 2021 through utilisation of technologies. It aspires for a poverty and hunger-free Bangladesh through overall uplift of the living standard of the people.
The philosophy of "Digital Bangladesh" comprises ensuring people's democracy and rights, transparency, accountability, establishing justice and ensuring delivery of government services in each door through maximum use of technology-with the ultimate goal to improve the daily lifestyle of general people. The Government's "Digital Bangladesh" includes all classes of people and does not discriminate people in terms of technology. Hence, the government has emphasised on the four elements of "Digital Bangladesh Vision" which are human resource development, people involvement, civil services and use of information technology in business.
The 3rd Conference on Bangladesh e-Banking & Mobile Commerce is one of the many events in line with the Bangladesh government's initiative to achieve the goal to establish "Digital Bangladesh" by 2021. The conference, I am sure, will be an important event in the area of e-Banking and Mobile Commerce and benefit the policy-makers, bankers and the business community in Bangladesh.
The Conference will also contribute in making the Banking sector efficient, transparent and accessible to every citizen of the country. I congratulate Total Communications, Pakistan and its CEO Faisal Rahim for organising such a relevant and topical international conference in Dhaka. I wish the conference to be a great success.
