Abbottabad operation: Fazal suggests government not to constitute commission

Maulana Fazul Rehman, chief of his own faction of Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI), suggested the government not to constitute national commission to probe the May 2 unilateral US operation in Abbottabad. He said the constitution of the commission would not serve any purposes. He said if the military and intelligence agencies were found responsible, who would take action against them.
He said such outcome would isolate military from the people of Pakistan.
Talking to journalists after chairing the meeting of JUI-F's Majlis-e-Shura here, he said that it was his personal feelings that constitution of the commission was against the national interests.
He warned the government it would face drastic consequences in case of military operation was launched in North Waziristan.
To a question, he said the need of the time was to make the MMA more proactive but expressed his disappointment over the role of Jamaat-e-Islami in this respect.
He also said that the slot of Opposition Leader in Senate was his party's right, as JUI-F had more votes in senate than PML-N.
