Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is seriously contemplating to bring a bill in the Parliament to ensure due representation of Overseas Pakistanis in National as well as all the four provincial assemblies of the country, said Dr Nadeem Ehsan, Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis while talking to reporters at PWD Rest House here Sunday.
Accompanied by the Member National Assembly and Parliamentary Secretary of Overseas Pakistanis Farhet Muhammad Khan, Managing Director OPF Ehsan Jamali, Director OPF Mirpur Zahoor Ahmed Solangi, Assistant Director Zaheer Ahmed Warriach and Welfare Officer Masood Akhter Raja and other officials of the foundation. The minister earlier visited the bereaved families of those 14 ill-fated kids who lost their lives in the accident in which a school van plunged into the upper jhelum canal near Mirpur on Friday and expressed sympathies on behalf of the party.
The delegation prayed for the rest of the departed souls in eternal peace and grant of fortitude to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss.
The minister said that the top MQM leader and federal minister Dr Farooq Sittar, on the directives of the MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain, had already vowed to make efforts to bring a bill in the National Assembly for formal legislation to get ensured the representation of the overseas Pakistanis in the national and provincial assemblies.
He said the overseas Pakistanis were valuable assets of the country and the government would leave no stone unturned to resolve their problems on priority basis.
