Makai prices fell sharply on the wholesale grain market on Wednesday but grams rates went up in process of trading, dealers said. On the cereals side, Makia dropped by Rs 375 to Rs 2375-2500 on steady arrivals from upcountry centres, in sympathy, Juwar low type also shed Rs 100 to Rs 2300 while the best type lost Rs 50 to Rs 2400, other items retained the overnight levels, they said.
On the grams sector, yellow peas Canada gained Rs 100 to Rs 3750-3925, yellow peas dal Canada low type up by Rs 100 to Rs 4150 while the best type was higher by Rs 75 to Rs 4300, yellow peas Ukraine low type appreciated by Rs 150 to Rs 3650 and good type was up by Rs 50 to Rs 3825 and yellow peas dall Ukraine inferior type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 4100 and better type picked up Rs 125 4250, they said.
On the rice sector, Irri-6 Sindh inched up after gaining Rs 75 to Rs 3600-3650 during the day, they said. Only one change was seen on the seeds side, where cottonseeds oilcake with bag low type picked up Rs 15 to Rs 1340 and good type was higher by Rs 10 to Rs 1400, other managed to hold the overnight levels, they said.
