BoP scam case hearing today

While hearing Rs 9 billion Bank of Punjab (BoP) scam, the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that various miscellaneous applications related to the scam would be decided today (Wednesday). A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Tariq Parvez and Justice Amir Hani Muslim observed while hearing the bank of Punjab versus Haris Steel Industries case.
In the hearing the Deputy Prosecutor General National Accountability Bureau informed the bench on Tuesday that vacant seat of NAB Chairman and Prosecutor General was adversely affecting the Bureau working. Raja Amir Abbas, deputy prosecutor general told the bench that in the Rs 9 billion Bank of Punjab's scam the case of Haris Steel Mills was only one chapter, adding that "We are unable to do anything as there is no chairman and prosecutor general in the NAB." Khawaja Haris, counsel for the Bank of Punjab, informed the court that a campaign has been launched by the Haris Afzal, which should be stopped. The court adjourned hearing till June 8 (Wednesday).
