Two children were killed while five others suffered burn injuries when a container filled with chemicals burst at a varnish factory at Wandala Road, Shahdara on Friday. Roofs of the double-storey factory and three adjacent houses collapsed after the incident said Rescue -1122 spokesman here. The deceased were identified as Abdul Sami (three) and his sister Shanza (five).
On receiving information, 10 vehicles of Rescue-1122, fire brigade and other rescue teams reached the spot and started rescue operation and completed the operation after four hours' hectic efforts. They shifted the injured persons including Rashid, father of the children, Farzana (mother), Naseern, Iffat, Shahid, Usman and Ahmad Naveed, to Mayo Hospital.
