Published Updated

Lahore High Court Chief Justice here Friday admitted a petition for regular proceeding, challenging a strike by Lahore Bar Association. The petitioner Shahid Rana advocate pleaded that a handful of lawyers from a community of at-least 18,000 lawyers used the platform of the bar for their personal interests. He questioned how could a general house with presence of not more than 50 members take decision on behalf of the whole community.
The petitioner further pleaded that strike by the bar members has increased miseries of already depressed litigants and thousands of cases were adjourned without being heard. He said the lawyers also forced judges not to hold courts in order to make their boycott, successful which was also an illegal act.
