Violation of municipal bylaws: CDA serves notices on 600 residents

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) served notices on 600 residents for violating municipal bylaws during the month of May. This was told during a meeting held here on Friday to review progress on anti-littering drive, which was presided over by Chairman CDA Imtiaz Inayat Elahi.
Briefing the meeting Director Sanitation Captain Faiz Muhammad (Retd) apprised the meeting that notices were served for violating municipal bylaws junks in the open areas or dumped building material and wasting water in the streets, which caused inconvenience to the residents and passerby.
The Challans of 50 violators out of these 600 residents have been sent to the court of law for further action. Sanitation Directorate is placing new dustbins with attractive colours in Aabpara Market and Markaz F-8 and the old one would also be repaired and painted, he further informed.
The meeting was told that Directorate of Sanitation would extend anti-littering campaign to Islamabad Expressway, IJ Principal Road, Sector G-6, G-8, G-9 and G-10 with best professional skills, adding that in third phase of Anti-Littering Drive, Chairman CDA along with Board Members of CDA, Traders, Citizens, NGOs, will participate actively in the cleanliness of the city. It said that CDA has deployed anti-litter force in different Marakiz of the Federal Capital, who will disseminate information and awareness literature among the citizens about the cleanliness as part of anti-littering drive - 2011.
Chairman CDA was told the Directorate of Sanitation has already chalked out a comprehensive strategy to make the move a success. Anti-littering force has been deployed at Markaz F-6 (Super Market), Markaz F-7 (Jinnah Super Market) and Markaz F-10, for distributing pamphlets containing information on anti-littering and cleanliness in the city. Imtiaz Inayat Elahi expressed his satisfaction over the performance of Sanitation Directorate and directed the concerned department to seek the co-operation of the public and extend cleanliness drive in small sectors and trade centres of the city on priority.
