The budgetary allocation for Interior Ministry, responsible for maintaining law and order and face the challenge of war against terror, has witnessed a raise of 11.3 percent while its components, Pakistan Coast Guards and Civil Armed Forces, received a raise of 37.7 and 16.13 percent respectively in the federal budget for 2011-12.
Pakistan Rangers, actively taking part in war against terror, would receive a nominal raise of just 1.9 percent (Rs 210.081 million in absolute terms) in 2011-12, while Frontier Constabulary has been given a raise of 9.4 percent (Rs 526.624 million in absolute terms).
Total amount earmarked for Interior Ministry in 2011-12 is Rs 56.099 billion against the revised allocation of Rs 50.531 billion for 2010-11; Rs 50.294 billion has been earmarked for non-development expenditures while Rs 5.8 billion for development expenditures of the Ministry.
The Interior Ministry would receive a budgetary raise of Rs 51.638 million for its administrative component 'Interior Division' and Rs 170 million for miscellaneous expenditures under the head of 'Other Expenditures'. The budgetary allocation for Interior Division for fiscal year 2011-12 has been increased by 11.3 per cent to Rs 457.138 million. The budget 2010-11 had earmarked Rs 405.500 million while revised estimates were higher at Rs 411.900 million.
Islamabad will receive an increase of 7.25 percent or Rs 4.777 billion, in next fiscal year in contrast to the budget 2010-11 allocation of Rs 4.431 billion while revised estimate was Rs 4.288 billion. The budget allocations for Immigration and Passports rose by 8.43 percent to Rs 856.570 million while budget 2010-11 allocation was Rs 784,400 million with revised estimates of Rs 774.988 million.
The 2011-12 budget allocation for Civil Armed Forces has shown an increase of 16.13 percent to Rs 24.081 billion from budget allocation of 2010-11 of Rs 20.197 billion while the revised estimate of the Civil Armed Forces for current fiscal year was Rs 26.629 billion.
The allocations for Frontier Constabulary, which is actively involved in war zone, has been raised by 9.4 percent to Rs 5.631 billion from budget allocation for 2010-11 of Rs 5.104 billion while revised estimate of the Frontier Constabulary for current fiscal year was Rs 5.630 billion. Pakistan Coast Guards also witnessed an increase of 37.7 percent to Rs 1071.287 million from budget allocation of 2010-11 of Rs 667.661 million while revised estimates of Pakistan Coast Guards for current fiscal year was Rs 685.886 million.
Pakistan Rangers (compared to last years increase of Rs 4.777 billion) will receive a nominal increase of 1.9 percent to Rs 11.453 billion from budget allocation for 2010-11 of Rs 11.242 billion while revised estimates of Pakistan Rangers for current fiscal year was Rs 11.235 billion.
The allocations for miscellaneous expenditures (Other Expenditures) for Interior Ministry have been raised by 8.7 percent to Rs 1.969 billion from the budget 2010-11 allocations of Rs 1.799 billion, while revised estimate of current fiscal year for Other Expenditures was Rs 1.936 billion. Out of total development expenditures of Rs 5.8 billion for Interior Ministry Rs 4.537 has been earmarked for ongoing development projects while Rs 1.264 billion is earmarked for new development projects of the Ministry.
