The government on Friday laid the Finance Bill 2011 before the upper house of parliament. After presentation of the annual budget for 2011-12, federal minister for finance, Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh laid the bill in the Senate under Article 73 of the Constitution.
The Finance Bill has been laid in the Senate to provide an opportunity to members of the upper house to send recommendations to the National Assembly for incorporating them into the annual budget statement. Senate Chairman Farooq H Naek referred the Finance Bill to Senate standing committee on finance for recommendations. The upper house did not see any uproar, which the finance minister faced during his speech in the National Assembly when opposition started protest with full throat slogans.
