Rehman Malik urges Afridi return

Published Updated

Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik, said Thursday he would urge Shahid Afridi to reverse his retirement decision. "I will do whatever I can to resolve this issue, as I am equally a fan of Afridi," Malik tweeted. "I hope to give u (you) some good news in the future."
Malik's influence upon national team players was illustrated last month when he convinced Zulqarnain Haider to end his exile in Britain after the wicketkeeper had fled the team in November of 2010, citing death threats from match fixers. The PCB has suspended Afridi's national team contract and also revoked all the No Objection Certificates which would clear the World Cup captain to play for other teams.
