Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masood Kausar has said that the deprivation of people of underdeveloped areas will be removed, saying situation in FATA is gradually improving and pace of development will also be accelerated. He expressed these views while talking to visitors during his surprise visit to the FATA Secretariat here on Thursday.
He directed the officials to make the secretariat well organise and responsive to the people's problems as well as development needs of tribal areas. "The visiting tribesmen must be facilitated and their problems resolved to their utmost satisfaction", the Governor urged the officials while visiting different sections of the secretariat.
Later addressing the officials the Governor emphasised the need for enhancing the efficiency of line departments and bringing transparency in all the actions and decisions whether developmental or administrative for confidence building of the people and the donors.
He said that those showing outstanding performance to deliver would be rewarded whereas the inefficient would have to face the accountability and punishment. The Governor urged the line departments for capacity building so that the huge development funds could be judiciously and timely utilised and development needs of the people fulfilled.
He directed that public welfare oriented development projects must be preferred and efforts should be made to complete the ongoing projects within the stipulated period of time. The Governor said that staff deficiency in educational and health facilities is being removed to address the growing demand of the people of FATA. "The prime objective of a separate FATA Secretariat is to streamline the FATA related affairs in a more organised manner and provide one-window facility to the tribesmen", the Governor added and said "Now it must deliver and come up to the expectations of the people of FATA".
The Governor took a round of the premises and inspected the offices and sections of the main secretariat as well as that of line departments, where he particularly checked the attendance and stressed on observing punctuality. The Governor also mixed up with the tribesmen present there and talked to them freely to ascertain their purpose of visit and their problems. The Governor told the visitors that the government was committed to solve their problems and remove the backwardness through an accelerated development process.
